Mary Emma was born a seventh generation Texan and returned here in 2000 immediately following graduation from Emory University. It was at Emory that she began honing her eye for design. She double majored in Art History (with extra attention to architecture) and English. Mary Emma then enrolled in The University of Texas School of Law. Upon graduation, she went on to practice as an Assistant District Attorney and then returned to UT Law as the Director of Public Service programs.
While her understanding of law developed during this time, so did her pursuit of interior design and remodeling homes. She lived in multiple neighborhoods of Austin (Pemberton Heights, Bryker Woods, Hyde Park and Westlake Hills to name a few) and was deeply inspired to make each home she lived in as beautiful as possible. Mary Emma has been a design junkie since before the home renovation television shows and design blog craze began. She has a strong reputation for her ability to identify a property’s strengths and potential and knows how to make it come to life.
The sale of her own historical Colonial Revival home Pemberton Heights garnered record-breaking pricing statistics for the neighborhood. She currently resides near Mount Bonnell, in another home she has devotedly remodeled – this one hailing from the mid-century. More recently she lead the design charge on a personal investment project to remodel a 1935 home in the historic district of Hyde Park. It is no wonder that she also frequently serves as a consultant on clients’ own home renovations as well as staging projects.
But it is not just her skills as a designer and attorney that set her apart as a Realtor®. She’s motivated. In the fast- paced world of residential real estate Mary Emma stands apart for being polite, extremely engaged, and candid, earning the respect of her clients as well as her colleagues. When recently asked why she should be hired, Mary Emma responded. “I'm determined that my clients are not only satisfied with the transaction of what’s usually their most valuable asset, but that they’re so glad that they worked with me that they refer me to their friends. That’s been the route to my success.” Mary Emma has been designated amongst the top 2% of real estate agents in Austin.
As to where the motivation comes from, it’s being mom to Gus, Teddy, and Harry. Gus attends St. Stephen's Episcopal School, Teddy goes to O. Henry Middle School, and Harry is at Casis Elementary. Mary Emma is actively involved in those schools and serves on the Community Champions Board for Friends of the Children. She also gives continual support to The Church of the Good Shepherd, the Elizabeth Ann Seton Board, and Dell Children’s Council.
